You met the person of your dreams, the person whom you can see yourself spending the rest of your life with – congratulations!
Now it’s time for the fun part — finding a wedding venue. This process can be fun, yes. But it can also be frustrating, tedious, and exhausting at times. Narrowing down where you want to wed depends on location, and location is everything. Fortunately, since you’re holding your wedding right here in Wine Country (northern California’s Napa and Sonoma areas), it’s pretty tough to end up with a bad location.
In this post, I’ll show you exactly how to find the best wedding venues in Wine Country.
Conveniently located north of San Francisco’s Bay Area, Wine Country is named after the valleys that are home to some of best vineyards in the United States, and (arguably) even the world. You will have a choice of top wineries where the scenery is unbelievable, majestic, and dramatic. But there are so many to choose from, so how do you pick?
You can go the traditional route and go straight up to Napa Valley, a classic location deep in Wine Country. There are many vineyards that have wedding packages available, and you can expect the setting to be outside with lush greenery, rolling hills, beautiful, old stone structures and fantastic wines. As this could be somewhat of a destination wedding, there is no need to bring a photographer – there are many Napa wedding photographers, such as Adrian Tamblin Photography, who are familiar with the the area and know where to take the best pictures.
Just west of Napa is Sonoma County, which is home to just as many fantastic wineries as Napa. Sonoma County, depending on where you decide to wed, is just an hour north of San Francisco, making it easier to reach than Napa. In Sonoma, you will find wedding venues in a mixture of ranches, wineries and on the rolling Sonoma hills. The wine is just as good, the views are amazing, and your wedding will be just as special.
A bit more west of Sonoma and the surrounding areas is Bodega Bay. If you are interested in having a view of the Pacific Ocean for your ceremony, this is the place to be! Alfred Hitchcock’s famed movie The Birds was filmed here, and still proves to be a quaint little town right on the coast. Bodega Bay not only offers wineries, but incredible views of jagged cliffs reaching down to crashing waves. It does get foggy out there, which can add a nice, cozy feel to your ceremony.
The hardest part is finding that one person you want to spend the rest of your life with. It shouldn’t be just as difficult to find the perfect place to get married. Jump in a car, drive through Wine Country, and find your perfect setting – it’s out there just waiting for you.
