This has got to be one of the hardest questions to answer when deciding where and when you want to have your wedding. This question really depends on you, your ceremony, and time of year. BUT if you’re getting married in Napa Valley, chances are very good that you’ll be holding your wedding (or at least the fun parts of it) outside rather than inside.
Then again, there are several factors to consider on this question of outside vs. indoor wedding in Napa.
What kind of statement are you making with your wedding? People use weddings as a way to not only celebrate their love for one another, but to also expresses their creativity and taste. All of this is dependent where you are going to get married and what time of year. Plus, if you’re holding a more religious ceremony, an indoor setting may be very important to you.
If you are looking to get married in Wine Country, it is important to know when rainy season is – unless you want it to rain on your wedding day, which is okay, too. But if it is raining, you might want to move the party inside. People don’t normally like to eat their food while getting drenched. There is always the option of using tents or pavilions, which can create a nice ambiance, but you might not want to risk that.
If you do decide on a dry outdoor wedding, then you will want to do it from late spring to early fall. Also, remember that in Northern California, the nights cool down considerably, so be mindful of that, too. There is something said about a dusk wedding – the lighting is beautiful and really sets the mood for a romantic night. If you choose to cover your guests, you have many options on how to decorate the tent or pavilion using lights that twinkle like stars.
Another factor that plays into outdoor weddings is if its during the summer months. Wine Country can get pretty hot during the day, and if there is no shade, you are going to have a pile of sweaty guests in your midst. Keep an eye out for shaded areas, and make sure that your guests are offered plenty of beverages to keep them cool while you recite your vows.
If you have decided on an indoor wedding, that can be nice, too. Old stone structures are very common in Wine Country, which create a whimsical, old-world feel, and can create a really nice mood for the event. Also, there is the added bonus that the kitchen, bathrooms, and bar are in close proximity for you and your guests. But keep in mind, when you have an indoor wedding, there might not be as much room as an outdoor wedding, so it could limit who you can and cannot invite.
Whatever you chose, be happy with it. Make sure that it reflects your love and both of your personalities, and the rest will fall into place.
